Just a short recap today—yes, I know I’m late getting something out, so my apologies. Tuesday night featured another high-scoring matchup for K-State against Nebraska. The Cats had a big fourth inning to take an 8–6 lead but couldn’t hold off the Huskers, who scored five runs in the very next inning. Nebraska added a few more runs and kept the Bat Cats’ offense in check to win 14–9.
Multiple K-State hitters had strong nights at the plate, including Kyan Lodice (3-for-5 with 2 RBIs), Ty Smolinski (2-for-5), Dee Kennedy (1-for-3 with an RBI), Grant Gallagher (2-for-3 with two walks), and AJ Evasco (1-for-5 with 2 RBIs), just to name a few.
It was K-State’s pitching that struggled to contain the hot Nebraska lineup. This Huskers team has been on a roll, winning 14 of its last 15 games and breaking into the top 25.
K-State will hit the road for a weekend series against Utah, which holds a 13–9 record and allows just under 10 hits per game. We’ll see if K-State’s offense can provide some relief and run support for the pitching staff this weekend. I’m less concerned about the weekend rotation compared to the weekday situation, which has been a bit less reliable. We’ll see how that adjusts early next week after the series, as the team stays in Utah to face BYU midweek.
